The Creation of'Pou Kapua' a Maori Totem Pole Frank was invited to (Aotearoa) Auckland, New Zealand to represent the Pacific N.W. Coast Indian Nations on a journey to reunite our Ancestors together again for the creation of this major monumental totem pole. Frank contributed a ("Wolf of the Sea") Killer Wkale design for the "Pou Kapua" a 70-foot Maori totem pole.
"I thank Wikuki and Tonia Kingi for the invite and the Maori women from the
Te Puea Marae (Long House) for their true friendship and for looking after my mother Kaasoot
during our one month visit." August 2003
Auckland Museum Artist Carving Demonstration A warm thank
you to Rodney Wilson and Natasha Beckman, for granting me the honor
to give an artist carving demonstration next to a majestic (war canoe)
"Waka Taua". My biggest enjoyment was watching the school children's eyes
light up with joy when viewing my artwork... and all their inquisitive questions. Washington State Folk Arts Fellowship Award I thank the Washington State Art Commission for selecting me to recieve "Folk Arts Fellowship" award. The award is presented annually to a few selected native artists solely on recognition of past and continuing merit in maintaining cultural traditions. July 2003
Glacier Bay National Park Lodge Artist Demonstration I was spiritually moved by the experience of giving an artist carving demonstration at Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve Lodge. There was no doubt in my heart that my ancestors were present to witness this event. The Tlingit Chookaneidei Clan owns Glacier Bay and we passionately refer to it as our Breadbasket. June 2003 Artist Demonstration aboard Alaska Cruise Ship I thank Glacier Bay Cruiseline Company for granting me the honor of giving an artist demonstration and presentation for the tourist while the ship cruised thru the treasured lands of Southeast Alaska. The photo below was taken at Misty Fjords located in Southeast Alaska. Yes, that's Frank sitting on the bow of a ship under a waterfall... how ADVENTURIUOS is that !! June 2003
